@SAHS I guess the elders' reasoning would be that I was the one who exposed myself to the online sphere, therefore I should be open to critique (more like stalking). That was nearly ten years ago, but I'm still affected to this day (hence my lack of social media presence).

Another example of the smothering and high control nature of JW husbands
by stuckinarut2 ini have noticed another popular pattern of behaviour amongst witnesses in recent years.. many, and i mean lots of ones with instagram accounts have closed the wife's account, and have started a "couple's" account instead.
also, for families.
the children's accounts have been closed, and the husband starts a "family account".. it is mainly on the husband's device, and seemingly under his control.

Odd things that come to mind when buying something!
by stuckinarut2 ini was just thinking about the odd things that arise when out shopping.. i saw a bag the other day, and thought "that would be a perfect 'service' bag as it is just the right size for....oh hang on...".
and when buying nice shoes, the thought is there somewhere..."these will be comfortable when walking around the streets...".
gotta laugh hey!

@LongHairGal So true about some sisters being under the microscope more than others based on their figure. I'm no supermodel, but because I wasn't 200 kilos with a mustache, I would get more scrutiny than a robust sister whose clothing was, by KH standards, revealing. I've never worn above-the-knee skirts or low cut dresses. But if something looked a little "too" flattering on me, I'd be sure to hear about it.

@LongHairGal It was a total smear campaign marked by gestapo tactics and clandestine intelligence. I would cry to my parents about how invasive it all was at the time (I was 18 years old). My mother would insist that the elders were doing this out of "love" for me. "Don't you think they're busy with their own lives?" she'd reason. "They have so much to do, yet they make the time for you. You should be grateful."

@wallsofjericho I know @stuckinarut2 in person and he would have to be one of the most upbeat, inspirational, positive ex-Witnesses I know of. I think his example of accepting your critique with an open mind and class is evidence of that.
This site allows us to get things off our chest so we can grow, not just as a community, but as individuals. Sometimes a good vent over the bizarre observations we make can help us do so : ).

Drugs, prayer & altered states of consciousness
by deegee inhave you got your "fix" yet?.
hallucinogens are known to induce altered states of consciousness..........but so can prayer:.
acts 10:9-23: "on the next day, as they were on their way and approaching the city, peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray.

I'm a recovering addict. When I returned to the organization back in 2014 and newly sober, I was told to pray every time I got an urge to use, because being closest to Jehovah was the "best high one can experience". An hour into one intense prayer, I remember asking Jehovah, "so when does this start to feel like cocaine?"

@stuckinarut2 I had Facebook back in 2008. The grief and strife I went through with elders printing out copies of my PRIVATE account's friends list and hauling me into the back room wondering how 600 people could be Jehovah's people? The answer: they're not. They're worldly. I'm so sorry.
Once the friends purge was complete, I had some elders try to "friend" me. I ignored these requests. Within a week, an elder's daughter had given her father access to my account. My new crime? Not moderating the comments on my pictures. Some comments were suggestive. We can't have that. So I had to delete posts, pictures or updates that incited toilet humor, etc.
The last straw was when the elders showed up at my parents' place with a manila envelope with print outs of my gallery. Every. Single. Outfit. was scrutinized, criticized and deemed "unfit for a sister". The locations of the pictures were highlighted, along with the time stamps (22:13 at a bar in the city? Is that Christian? Holding a drink on a Saturday at 15:47? Should Witnesses be day-drinking? This leads to drunkenness by the evening!).
I closed my entire account down and have never had social media since.
The paranoia of being "spied on" and having every innocuous activity blown up into a "transgression that requires counselling" has burned me. I don't even comment on benign Youtube videos for fear of having my funny comment taken out of context. It's stifling.

I'll never buy anything revealing to wear because the idea of "modesty" from the Society has been so drummed into my skull. And anything I DO own that's above the knee is something I'd never have the nerve to wear out in public for fear of being seen by other Witnesses - even when I know of active sisters who DO wear short-shorts or above-the-knee skirts when out shopping. It's okay for them because they're "active". If a fader wore those clothes, there'd be talk about how "worldly" and "corrupted by Satan" I've become : (.

Anyone interested in their ashes on the moon?
by James Mixon infor only $12,500.00 your ashes can be put on the moon or $5,000 for a burial in low-earth orbit, where a travel-shampoo-size urn can spin for years at 17,000 mph until it gradually descends into the white-hot re-entry atmosphere.they hope to have a cemetery on the moon complete with plots and ceremonial adornments..just think every time it's a full moon you look up in the sky and you will always see you love one.
a thought, you are resurrected on the moon.....

Watchtower Internet Presence Spells Doom For the Cult With Every Passing Year.
by Brokeback Watchtower inthink of it : the internet as a source of information and exposing to human kind many alternative interpretations of literature content spells doom for watchtower bull shit as all countries raise their intelligence to what is right and wrong and what is self serving and biased by religious indoctrination, such consciousness will become so common place that religious bull shit will not be very tolerated by the masses as we proceed forward.
it is just a matter of excellorateded of information available to the mean average users.

@stuckinarut2 Do you reckon? WT has cleverly optimized all of the keywords to their advantage. If an interested person just Googles "Jehovah's Witnesses", you get so many JW.org pages just on page one :(.

"...you are resurrected on the moon" LOL. Too bad for those poor souls who had their ashes scattered at sea. They'll be brought back only to immediately drown.
